R. 'Besse Howells'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Besse Howells'

Flower deep purplish-red with a deep red blotch, openly funnel-shaped, frilly-edged, 2" across.  Held in ball-shaped truss.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves 4" long, shiny, slightly wrinkled.  Compact habit.  Typical height: 3 ft. in 10 yrs.  Plant is hardy to -20F (-29C).  Hybridized by Shammarello.

   
R. 'Weston's Pink Diamond'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Weston's Pink Diamond'

Flower light vivid purplish red with orange-brown spots on dorsal lobe, flat saucer-shaped, semi-double, wavy lobes, ruffled center of petaloid stamens, 1" across.  Held in ball-shaped trusses with 8 to 12 flowers.  An early season bloomer.  Leaves lanceolate, acute apex, cuneate base, 1" long, glossy, yellow-green, retained 1 year.  Upright plant, well-branched, ⅔ as broad as high.  Grows to an approximate height of 5 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10F (-23C).  Hybridized by Mezitt.

 
R. 'Komo Kulshan'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Komo Kulshan'

Flower vivid purplish red, lighter in center, funnel-shaped, 1" across.  A late midseason bloomer.  Leaves elliptic, textured, about 1" long, mid green.  Has a spreading growth habit.  Grows to a height of 2 ft. in 10 yrs.  Cold hardy to -10F (-23C).  Selected form of R. kiusianum.

 
'White Lights'

Deciduous Azalea: 'White Lights'

Flower white, reverse of tube light purplish-pink.  No markings, tubular funnel-shaped, " across.  Held in dome-shaped truss with 5 flowers.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, apiculate apex, cuneate base, 2⅜" long, flat, both surfaces hairy, moderate yellow-green.  Rounded, well-branched habit.  Grows to a typical height of 5 ft. in 10 yrs.  Cold hardy to -35F (-37C).  Hybridized by Pellett.
