Azalea field trials at Auburn University's Piedmont Substation located in Camp Hill, Alabama.  Cultivars supplied by nurseries and other breeders are assessed for heat, cold and pest tolerance.
   August Kehr Memorial Garden
Created by the Southeastern Chapter of the ARS and the Vaseyi Chapter of the ASA in memory to Augie Kehr, past president of the ARS.  The Hendersonville, North Carolina garden features azaleas, rhododendrons and magnolias developed by Kehr.
   Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens
Located in Stamford, CT the 91 acre property features a collection of rare and unusual trees and plants from around the world.  The Mehlquist Rhododendron Collection contains several hundred species and cultivars hardy to southwestern Connecticut. This garden honors Dr. G.A.L. Mehlquist whose lifelong breeding work at the University of Connecticut has yielded many valuable rhododendron introductions.
   Benmore Botanic Garden
Located on on the Cowal peninsula in the southwestern highlands of Scotland.  More than 350 species and subspecies, and 300 hybrids and cultivars, can be seen here.
   Brookings Azalea Park
Located in Brookings Oregon on the Pacific coast this 33 acre city park contains many native azaleas, over
400 rhododendrons, as well as bulbs, annuals and ornamental trees.
   Callaway Gardens
Callaway Gardens’ 13,000 acres in Pine Mountain, Georgia, offers two significant azalea gardens: the 40-acre Callaway Brothers Azalea Garden featuring both hybrids and natives and the Overlook Azalea Garden, a mature specimen garden, created by the late Fred Galle. In addition, the specimen Rhododendron Trail is an easy 0.6 mile walking trail.
   Caron Gardens
This one acre garden in British Columbia features 300 different hybrid rhododendrons and 100 species, along with companion perennials
   Cecil and Molly Smith Garden
Begun in 1951 by ARS founding-member Cecil Smith.  Today the garden is owned and maintained by the Portland ARS Chapter.  The garden is located near Newberg OR.
   Connie Hansen Garden Conservancy
Excellent one acre collection of rhododendron hybrids and species, dogwoods, magnolias, heather, Japanese maples, iris and more.
   Crarae Garden
Over 400 rhododendron hybrids and species in a beautiful natural gorge setting with a burn and cascading waterfall.  Located near Inveraray Scotland.
   Cross Hills Gardens
The New Zealand garden contains one of the world's finest collections of rhododendrons and azaleas, consisting of over 2,000 varieties.
   Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
Located in Portland, OR in a seven acres beautiful woodland setting, the pathways wind invitingly through more than 2,500 rhododendrons, azaleas, and companion plants.
   Christchurch Botanic Gardens
Situated in Christchurch New Zealand, this wonderful park has a fine collection of exotic and indigenous plants.  Many Rhododendron species and hybrids are part of the collection.
   Dawes Arboretum
Encompassing 1650 acres the Newark OH arboretum has an extensive collection of rhododendrons, azaleas and trees that offer an unique educational experience in any season.
   Dunedin Botanic Garden
New Zealand's first garden was established in 1863.  The Rhododendron Dell began in 1914 with the planting of 500 rhododendrons.  Today the Dell occupies four hectares in the south-eastern corner of the Garden.
   Dunge Valley Rhododendron Gardens
Set in a beautiful hidden valley in the rolling Pennine Hills,this UK garden contains over 550 species and hybrid rhododendrons.  The garden has streams, waterfalls, ponds, bridges, bog gardens and a wide variety of unusual perennials, trees and shrubs.
   Edith J. Carrier Arboretum
Located at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.  The arboretum's 125 acres include the ARS Mid-Atlantic Chapter native azalea garden, 400 varieties of Glen Dale hybrid azaleas, and more than 500 azaleas and rhododendrons in the Sandra and Kenneth McDonald Garden.
   Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden
Located on a 13 hectare natural amphitheatre the garden includes some 22,000 select rhododendrons and companion plants.  A central hybrid area is surrounded by a series of areas designed to represent the flora of the regions from which the wild species rhododendrons originate.
   Exbury Garden
World famous English garden known for the beautiful rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas that thrive there.  Created by Lionel de Rothschild who was a voracious collector of plants, particularly rhododendrons and azaleas and a highly successful hybridizer.

   Garrett Park, MD
This Maryland town located just north of Washington, DC is famous for its Victorian houses, trees and azaleas.  The the entire town is designated an arboretum.
   Haag's RhodoGarden
Displaying almost 1,100 of the best of Russ and Velma Haaag's hybrids the Haag RhodoGarden each springtime is a feast for the eyes of any true rhododendron lover.
   Hendricks Park
An internationally recognized rhododendron garden southeast of  Eugene OR.  The forested park land contains a 12-acre garden with more than 6,000 plants highlighting rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias.
   Heritage Plantation
Charles O. Dexter transformed an unproductive farm into a showplace for the colorful, distinctive rhododendrons that bear his name.  The 76 acre plantation is located in Sandwich MA.
   Holden Arboretum
One of the largest arboreta in the US, located in Kirtland, OH near Cleveland.  Collection includes 1200 rhododendrons.
   Ilam Homestead Gardens
Ilam Homestead lies in the grounds of the University of Canterbury and was the home of Sir Edgar Stead, famous for his work in hybridizing rhododendrons and azaleas.
   Jenkins Arboretum
The arboretum features more than 150 different species of the genus Rhododendron, including evergreen and deciduous azaleas as well as small and large-leafed rhododendrons.  All together there are more than 4,000 rhododendrons.
   Jenkins Estate
This 68 acre country estate, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places is maintained by the Tualatin Hills Oregon Park and Recreation District.  The first garden through the iron gates at the entrance is a 1.6-acre rhododendron garden, planted and maintained by the Tualatin Valley ARS Chapter,  The garden has 600 varieties of rhododendrons.
   Kruse Rhododendron State Reserve
Situated approximately 20 miles north of Jenner, CA, Kruse Rhododendron State Reserve contains 317 acres of rhododendron and second-growth redwood, Douglas fir, and tan oak.
   Lake Wilderness Arboretum
The Arboretum is located in Maple Valley, Washington adjacent to Lake Wilderness Park.  Contains the Smith-Mossman Western Azalea Display Garden which features over 200 selections of the Western Azalea (Rhododendron occidentale).
   Lakewold Gardens
Located south of Tacoma, WA, this 10 acre estate, which is listed on the National Historic Registry, features more than 500 varieties of rhododendrons. Large stands of rhododendrons are laid out in a series of beds that open up like windows to give views of the Georgian-style mansion.
   Lendonwood Gardens
A three-acre botanical garden near Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma displaying more than 1,400 different types of plants, including the largest collection of rhododendrons in the Southwest.
   Longwood Gardens
An outstanding horticultural display garden, created by industrialist Pierre S. du Pont, featuring 11,000 different types of plants including numerous rhododendrons. 
   Maxwald Park
The oldest rhododendron forest park in Northern Germany.  Created in 1890 after the English designs of William Robinson and Gertrude Jekyll. The rhododendron specimens are 100-120 years old.  Many old English varieties are on display.
   Meerkerk Gardens
Located on beautiful Whidbey Island in Washington State's Puget Sound region, Meerkerk Gardens features mature rhododendron hybrids, rare and unusual rhododendron species, azaleas, spring bulbs and naturalized companion plantings in a woodland setting.
   Memorial University of Newfoundland Botanical Gardens
Opened to the public in 1977 the garden displays plants native to the province and cultivated plants suitable to the local climate.  Contains a rhododendron dell.
   Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens
The Fort Bragg CA garden contains an extensive collection of tender rhododendrons and other plants.
   Minter Gardens
Located in the coastal mountains of British Columbia.  Over 1,000 rhododendrons are planted throughout the gardens.
   Mobile Botanical Gardens
Situated in Mobile Alabama, the gardens encompass a 100 acres site.  The rhododendron garden contains more than 1000 evergreen azaleas including Encore, Harris, Holly Springs, Nuccio, Aromi, Dodd Jr., Robin Hill, and Glen Dale hybrids.
   Morris Arboretum
More than 13,000 labeled plants of over 2,500 types are growing in the Arboretum's living collection. These include representatives of the temperate floras of North America, Asia, and Europe.
   Mount Holyoke College Botanic Garden
The Virginia 'Timmy' Craig Rhododendron Garden is one of the Botanic Garden's most youthful gardens, having been created and planted out recently.  The garden features many plantings of rhododendrons and shade-loving woodland perennials.
   National Rhododendron Gardens
Situated on a hilltop in the scenic Dandenong Ranges, this Australian garden contains 15,000 rhododendrons, 12,000 azaleas, 3,000 camellias and 250,000 daffodils.
   Ness Botanic Gardens
46 acre ornamental garden with superb collections of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and heathers operated by the University of Liverpool.
   Planting Fields Arboretum
Situated on Long Island's North Shore, this 400 acre site is an outstanding public arboretum and historic site. Today, there are over one thousand different types of azaleas and rhododendrons in the arboretum collection.
   Point Defiance Rhododendron Garden
A cooperative venture between the Tacoma ARS Chapter and the Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma.  The six acre woodland garden contains a large collection of rhododendron hybrids and species.
   Polly Hill Arboretum
This Martha's Vineyard, MA garden is home of the world renowned North Tisbury azaleas.
   Portland Classical Chinese Garden
Features native Chinese plant species and forms. The garden is home to many specimen trees, rare and unusual shrubs and perennials, and signature collections of magnolia, cymbidium, camellia, osmanthus, rhododendron and bamboo.
   Pukeiti Rhododendron Trust Garden
Pukeiti is a 320 hectare rain forest property located between Mount Egmont/Taranaki and the scenic west coast just south of New Plymouth New Zealand.
   Roan Mountain State Park
This Tennessee state park features one of the largest natural rhododendron gardens in the world, with 600 acres of Catawba rhododendrons that bloom at the end of June.
   Rhododendron Park and Botanical Garden
The park located in Bremen Germany has one of the largest and most comprehensive rhododendron collections in Europe.  Collections include plants from the Himalayas, ' Burma, Tibet and Japan.  The Botanika Discovery Center provides information about the ecology of plants, their special characteristics and the diversity of species.
   Rhododendronpark D.G. Hobbie
The park covers 163 acres of woodland belonging to the Hobbie family in Linswege Germany.  Contains plants grown from seed gathered over the past 60 years by Rock, Kingdon-Ward, Forrest, Sherriff, Hu, and others.  Many well-known rhododendron repens and williamsianum hybrids.
   Rhododendron Species Foundation Garden
Between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma the garden has one of the largest and finest collections of rhododendron species in the world.  Over 10,000 rhododendrons grow in a 22 acre woodland setting.
   Rhododendron State Park
A 16 acre grove of rhododendron maximum located in Fitzwilliam, NH.  The rhododendron grove, the largest in northern New England, was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1982.
   Rhodoland (English, ook Nederlands, auch Deutsch)
Informative web site of Tijs Huisman, gardener, rhododendron hybridizer and photographer.  Situated 30 miles north of Zwolle in the Netherlands his 7 acre private property includes a 4 acre garden featuring rhododendrons, daylilies, ferns and perennials.
   Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh
One of the world's most outstanding botanical gardens.  Contains an excellent collection of rhododendrons.
   Royal Botanical Garden Kew
Located near London England, Kew Gardens has rhododendrons and other plants from many parts of the world.
   Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden
The 8-acre public garden in Nacogdoches, TX is part of the Stephen F. Austin State University.  It features 7,000 azaleas, both evergreen and deciduous, as well as camellias, Japanese maples and hydrangeas.

   Shore Acres State Park
Shore Acres began as lumberman Louis J. Simpson's private estate with vast gardens of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants brought from around the world.  Today the Oregon state park features rhododendrons, roses, tulips and daffodils.

   Sofiero Castle and Gardens
A royal rhododendron garden situated at Sofiero Castle in Helsingborg, Sweden.  This garden was started by crown prince Gustav Adolf and his wife Margareta in 1907.  Today nearly 10,000 rhododendron plants grow in the park that has over 300 different species and hybrids.
   State Botanical Garden of Georgia
A 313-acre preserve set aside by the University of Georgia.  The rhododendron collection was established in 1976 through a gift from the Athens Garden Club.  The native azalea collection honors Fred C. Galle, and has donations from the Azalea Chapter of the ARS, Tom Dodd Nurseries, and Green Thumb Nursery.
   Strybing Arboretum and Park 
The mild Mediterranean climate of San Francisco CA enables Strybing to grow and conserve plants from all over the world.  Over 7000 varieties of plants including an extensive Vireya rhododendron collection are on display.
   Ted & Mary Greig Rhododendron Garden
Located in Vancouver's Stanley Park this garden contains the rhododendron and azalea collection of Ted and Mary Grieg, who were renowned rhododendron hybridizers and owners of the Royston Nursery. In all, about 4,500 rhododendrons are planted beneath towering magnolias and evergreens.
   Tyler Arboretum
Tyler Arboretum, one of the oldest and largest arboreta in the northeastern United States, is located in central Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Contains an outstanding collection of rhododendrons and azaleas established in the 1950's by Dr. John C. Wister.
   The Norwegian Arboretum
The Norwegian Arboretum at Milde contains a wonderful collection of rhododendrons, with close to 4000 specimens of about 200 species and 400 cultivars.
   Lake Wilderness Arboretum
The WA state arboretum features northwest native plants and is home of the Smith-Mossman Western Azalea Display Garden, which features over 200 selections from the single species, rhododendron occidentale.
   University of British Columbia Botanical Garden
Located high on the cliffs overlooking the Strait of Georgia the 70 acre garden is planted with over 10,000 different trees, shrubs and flowers.
   University of California- Berkeley Botanical Gardens
Garden in Berkeley CA with many plants from around the world.  The Asian area includes an outstanding rhododendron collection (259 taxa, 397 accessions) including many tender varieties.
   University of North Carolina at Charlotte Botanical Gardens
Van Landingham Glen showcases native plants of the Carolinas and features one of the most diverse rhododendron displays with thousands of hybrids and native Southeastern azaleas.
   U.S. National Arboretum
A 446-acre campus in Washington, D.C. containing a beautiful array of display gardens, collections, and historical monuments set among native stands of eastern deciduous trees.  Mission is to conduct research, provide education, and conserve and display trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.
   Van Dusen Botanical Garden
This spectacular 55-acre garden in the heart of Vancouver is a botanical garden of international stature.  The mild Vancouver climate allows the cultivation of an outstanding plant collection including many rhododendrons.  There are over 7,500 different kinds of plants assembled from six continents.
   Washington Park Arboretum
The Washington Park Arboretum is a spectacular urban park on the shores of Lake Washington just east of downtown Seattle WA.  It contains an extensive rhododendron collection (194 species, 203 cultivars, 240 azalea cultivars).
   WRAL Azalea Gardens
Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) founder A.J. Fletcher created the gardens in 1959.  Located in Raleigh, NC the gardens surround WRAL-TV's studios and the corporate offices of CBC.  Featured plants include azaleas, dogwoods, rhododendrons, deciduous azaleas and hydrangeas.
